Exams are slowly sneaking up on the senior secondary in Australia at the moment, maybe even some states have started... You just need to say one word and it will strike fear into the hearts of many year 11s and 12s and that word is ATAR.
The dreaded ATAR...
2 whole years all leading up to a score that determines what you are going to become... Look that's not entirely true. There are other ways you can get into uni here in Australia. Such as doing a TAFE course before, doing a college course at the uni or even waiting a few years and becoming a mature aged student. Look I know that to most people (myself included) just want to get straight into the course and if you do great, if not there are still pathways you can take.
Maybe you will take a gap year, work and travel and find something that you would love to do and take a completely different pathway.
We all wanted to become different things when we were younger even now our opinions still change. Here's a list of jobs/courses that I have considered this year:
- A nurse (get straight into uni or do a 1/2 year course at a college to get into it)
- A florist (have to be an apprentice)
- A Disneyland cast member
- A Disneyland Princess (yes maybe a bit of an overkill)
- Do an EBS (european bartender school) 4 week course in Kos (a Greek island)
- Veterinary nurse
- Just work in retail (only for a year or two)
- Do a barista course (if do EBS course could do this 5 day course in Rome)
- Be an Instagram traveller (the dream job)
There's so many jobs out there and so many ways you can get into them so if you don't get the ATAR you wanted don't let life get you down. You can still be anything you want as long as you set your mind to it.
But of course try you absolute best in your exams!!
